Road Cycling Class / Roller Workshop
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1. Can I enroll in the Road Cycling Class? Does it require high technical skills?
Q2. How many lessons do I need?
Coaches will adjust the teaching content on the spot based on each student’s technical level and state on the day. Whether it is your first time touching a road bike or you want to specialize in specific techniques (such as roller balance or peloton breakaways), the coach will provide the most suitable guidance to ensure substantial progress in every lesson.
Q3. Can adults enroll? Will it be difficult to learn?
Road cycling is actually not difficult to learn: As long as you can already ride a two-wheeled bicycle, combined with our Roller Workshop to train your core balance, plus one-on-one coaching to correct your shifting and braking posture, most adult students can master basic drop bar handling after the first lesson. Coaches will tailor their instruction to your fitness and progress, ensuring you ride both professionally and safely.
Q4. Can students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) enroll?
- Enrollment Advice: As SEN students may require more focused guidance in understanding instructions or physical coordination, SEN students must enroll in “Private Classes” to ensure teaching effectiveness and safety.
- Mandatory Declaration: Parents must explicitly state the student’s special needs at the time of enrollment.
- Professional Arrangement: Through 1-on-1 private instruction, coaches can adjust the teaching pace based on the student’s immediate responses, providing the most suitable care and safety.
- Safety Consideration: If a student enrolls in an Open Class without prior declaration or assessment, INVIS Cycling reserves the right to request a transfer to a Private Class for safety reasons.
Q5. Do parents need to be present or accompany the student?
- Teaching Authority: Parents should accept and understand that caring for and guiding the students during training is the responsibility of the coach/instructor. Parents must “leave the teaching to INVIS” and refrain from giving any instructions.
- Avoid Conflicting Instructions (Most Important): Any communication from the sidelines (even positive encouragement) may affect the student. Example: A parent shouts “slow down” out of safety concerns, while the coach is asking the student to “speed up” for balance needs. Such conflicting instructions cause confusion and can lead directly to accidents.
- Remain Calm and Restrained: Parents are role models; even if you feel nervous, agitated, or excited about the child’s performance, you should remain calm at all times. Unless requested by the coach, parents should not participate in the training.
- Post-Class Communication: If there are any questions during the training, parents should wait until the session ends to speak with the coach/instructor. Instructors are very welcome to answer enquiries before or after training.
Q6. Does the course include a bicycle and helmet? Do I need to bring my own gear?
- Included in Fee: The course fee includes the rental of a bicycle, helmet, and protective gear (knee and elbow pads).
- Private Class: Fee includes equipment rental for the first participant.
- Open Class: Fee includes equipment rental for all students.
- Gentle Reminder: Please provide your height during registration so we can pre-arrange the most suitable bicycle size for you.
- Suggested Attire: Students only need to wear casual sportswear and flat-soled sneakers (closed-toe shoes) for the lesson.
Q7. What are the qualifications of the coaches/instructors?
- Certified Instructors: All INVIS Cycling instructors hold professional coaching certificates and possess professional teaching qualifications.
- Training Provider: INVIS Cycling is itself a training provider for instructors. Beyond teaching students, we are responsible for training professional instructors within the industry, ensuring our teaching standards remain at the forefront.
Q8. How many students are in each class? Can I request a specific coach/instructor?
- We insist on small-class teaching to ensure every student receives sufficient guidance and safety assurance.
Open Class (High-Quality Ratio):
Teaching Ratio: The standard is 1:1 to 1:5 (one instructor to a maximum of five students), ensuring the instructor can immediately correct your advanced movements.
Maximum Capacity: The actual limit is 1:10; however, to prioritize teaching effectiveness, our teaching ratio remains far below this limit and never exceeds 1:10.
Instructor Assignment: Professional instructors are assigned by INVIS Cycling based on course progress; specific requests are not available.
Private Intensive Class (High Flexibility):
Teaching Ratio: You decide the group size; we recommend 1:1 to 1:5 to maintain optimal learning effectiveness.
Requesting Instructors: Specific coaches/instructors can be requested, subject to a “Specific Instructor Surcharge.”
Q9. Are classes held indoors or outdoors?
- Roller Workshop: Conducted in an indoor environment to ensure students can focus on practicing balance and core control in a safe setting, unaffected by weather.
- Skills & Road Practical: Training will move to cycling venues or suitable outdoor road sections. Instructors will lead practical exercises on shifting, cornering, group riding, and breakaway techniques for a true road cycling experience.
Q10. Can I have classes in locations other than Sha Tin?
- Private Class Arrangement: Yes. Private classes offer more flexibility in terms of location. Besides our Sha Tin Headquarters, we can also arrange lessons in areas such as Cyberport, West Kowloon, Tseung Kwan O, Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, and other legal cycling areas.
- Booking Restrictions: Lessons held outside of the Sha Tin Headquarters are generally only available for weekday bookings and must be coordinated in advance with the instructor.
- Open Class: To ensure teaching quality and equipment support, all Open Classes are basically only conducted at our Sha Tin Headquarters.

You can earn miles by enrolling in designated courses, but mileage rewards are subject to relevant terms and conditions.
Please note that mileage rewards can only be earned by the participant and cannot be claimed by others. For example, parents cannot use their own Cathay member account to earn miles for their children’s courses.
All relevant information (including Cathay membership number and name) must be proactively provided for registration before the lesson. If the information is not submitted before the lesson, the miles will not be reissued.
Q12. Is there a trial lesson?
- Single Lesson Experience: Advanced techniques involve many handling details. You can enroll in a single lesson first for a professional diagnosis of your riding posture and road judgment by our instructors.
- Promotion Transition: After completing your first lesson, if you wish to continue systematic improvement (e.g., road practice, group riding), you can purchase a 4-Lesson Discount Package to continue your training.
- Note: The fee for the initial single lesson enrollment cannot be deducted or retroactively discounted from a package.
Q13. Do I need to enroll in many lessons at once? Can I pay for one lesson at a time?
- Enrollment Options: Yes. You can choose to enroll in a single lesson for flexible scheduling.
- Package Discount: Enjoy a 10% discount when you enroll in 4 lessons at once.
- Validity Period: Discount packages must be completed within three months. Due to limited spots, we suggest students check availability via WhatsApp and confirm all lesson dates before payment to avoid missing the deadline due to fully booked slots.
- Target Groups: As the target group (adult or child) for each time slot is determined by the first student to book, daily class arrangements may vary. Early booking is highly recommended.
Q14. Can I reschedule after enrollment?
- Limited Availability: Since each session is a small group class, spots are very limited. Please confirm your schedule before enrolling.
- Rescheduling Fee: Any confirmed booking that requires changes will be subject to an administrative fee (including rescheduling due to illness).
- Admin Fee: The fee for each change is calculated based on the notice period:
- More than 7 days before class: $150 per change
- 7 days or less before class: $250 per change
Q15. Can I use a weekday booking for a weekend class?
- Weekdays to Weekends: If you have purchased weekday lessons, you can apply to upgrade to a weekend slot by paying the price difference and an administrative fee (from $150).
- Weekends to Weekdays: If you purchase weekend-priced lessons but ultimately choose to attend during a weekday slot, no refund will be provided for the price difference.
Q16. Is it possible that I won't be able to book a class within the validity period?
The level of each time slot is determined by the first student who books it.
INVIS Cycling recommends that before making a payment, you enquire via 3543 0033 to confirm and finalize the dates and times for all your lessons. Once the booking is confirmed, INVIS Cycling will fulfill the agreed-upon arrangements.
If you have not scheduled all four lessons at the time of payment, you may not be able to secure your most preferred time slots. INVIS Cycling shall not be held responsible if the validity period expires due to such circumstances.
Q17. Is the Road Cycling Class safe? Will I have to ride on the road right away?
- Initial Training: Conducted indoors (Roller Workshop) or in enclosed venues (such as cycling parks). The focus is on mastering personal handling, balance, and shifting to build a solid technical foundation.
- Advanced Training: Only after the coach observes that the student is proficient in bike control and group riding hand signals will practical exercises be arranged on cycle tracks or suitable outdoor road sections.
- Road Practice: Only when students have mastered correct road positioning, communication etiquette, and hazard judgment will road-level practice be conducted under the coach’s leadership. Safety is our top priority.
Q18. What are the arrangements for bad weather or rain?
- Cancellation Decision: If a class cannot be held due to bad weather, the instructor will make the cancellation decision 1.5 hours before the scheduled lesson time.
- Make-up Arrangement: If the cancellation is decided by INVIS Cycling, students can arrange a make-up lesson within three months from the cancellation date. Since bad weather may affect many students simultaneously, please proactively contact us via WhatsApp or phone to confirm class status and arrangements to avoid missing messages.
